What information do we collect?
Exeter Ethiopia Link (EEL) collects data about members through Membership Application Forms and messages to the Secretary sent from our website, received by post or by direct email. Any queries about the data we hold should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
How will we use the information?
The information collected during the membership application process is required to allow us to contact you; without this information your application cannot be processed or your enquiries answered.
As we only collect your contact details in order to do what you want and expect us to do when you contact us, your details are processed by us on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legal basis of Legitimate Interest.
Contact information you share with us including your name, phone number, email and postal address will be used by EEL to provide you with information about the charity’s events, updates on activities and membership. Any request to be added to or removed from any distribution list should be sent to: email@example.com
If you choose to purchase items from our Gift Catalogue your contact details will be used solely to fulfil your order. We will not retain any of your financial details. We will contact you in order to arrange how to deliver your order and to arrange payment.
Members’ contact information is updated annually via the membership renewal process. This information is held for approximately 18 months until the next membership renewal has been issued.
Who do we share this information with?
Any information you share with us will only be used for the purposes mentioned above, and will not be shared by us with any other organisation without your prior consent. Your contact information will only be shared with selected officers, including the membership secretary and website manager.
Storage of information
Any information you share with us will be held electronically on a secure server. Any information provided to us in hard copy, e.g. membership application forms will be destroyed securely after processing.
Access to your information
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you and the right to have your contact details removed from our system. If you have a complaint about the way we handle your information please contact us, or you can contact the Information Commissioners Office.
